Description
Bright aluminum jump rings in 16 SWG wire at 3/16 inch inner diameter, left uncolored.
Bright aluminum is the natural mill finish. It is the usual base people weave against anodized colors when they want the pattern to carry the design instead of the palette.
These rings run an aspect ratio of 3 — inner diameter divided by wire thickness. A very tight ratio. Rings this snug take real hand strength to close cleanly, and they suit dense European 4-in-1 panels and fine jewelry chain rather than first projects.
Sixteen gauge is the general-purpose armor wire: strong enough to wear all day, still closable by hand without bench tools. Most wearable shirts and coifs are built on it.
The pack runs approximately 4,600 rings. At two rings per scale plus a ten percent spare buffer, that carries roughly 2,090 scales of scalemail.
Aluminum weighs roughly a third of what steel does ring for ring, which is why full shirts and long panels get built in it rather than in steel.
