Bright aluminum jump rings in 16 SWG wire at 9/32 inch inner diameter, left uncolored.

Bright aluminum is the natural mill finish. It is the usual base people weave against anodized colors when they want the pattern to carry the design instead of the palette.

These rings run an aspect ratio of 4.5 — inner diameter divided by wire thickness. A comfortable all-round ratio. Open enough to weave quickly by hand, tight enough to hold European 4-in-1, and the usual home for Byzantine and half Persian chain.

Sixteen gauge is the general-purpose armor wire: strong enough to wear all day, still closable by hand without bench tools. Most wearable shirts and coifs are built on it.

The pack runs approximately 200 rings. At two rings per scale plus a ten percent spare buffer, that carries roughly 90 scales of scalemail.
