Bright Aluminum Rings

Bright aluminum is the natural mill finish — no dye, no coating, just polished metal. It is the default for anyone who wants the weave itself to carry the piece, and the usual base color that anodized rings get patterned against.

Nineteen gauge-and-diameter combinations are stocked here, from 14 SWG down to 20 SWG and from 9/64 inch up to 1/2 inch inner diameter, covering aspect ratios of 3.0 through 8.4 — the widest ratio spread on the site. Tight ratios at the bottom of that range weave dense European 4-in-1; the open end is for Japanese weaves, captive work, and hanging scales.

Aluminum weighs about a third of what steel does ring for ring. That is the whole reason full shirts and long panels get built in it: a steel hauberk in the same size is punishing to wear for an afternoon.

Sold by the ounce and by the pound. Ring specs here are Standard Wire Gauge — see the note on SWG versus AWG if you are comparing against another supplier.
